Mortgage Protection Coverage |
|
| What is Mortgage Protection Insurance? | |
| Does the amount of the death benefit decrease annually along with the mortgage balance? | |
| Is the death benefit payable to the bank? | |
| What happens if I sell my house, move, or refinance? | |
| What is Return of Premium? | |
Life Insurance |
|
| What types of life insurance do I have to choose from? | |
| What is required to qualify for life insurance? | |
| Should I apply for a Term life insurance policy? Or a Permanent life insurance policy? | |
This really depends on your age. If you are relatively young and healthy, this may be a good time to apply for both. Premiums for such coverage are only going to get more expensive as you age. Purchasing a significant amount of term insurance, and a smaller permanent policy will ensure that your family is very protected over the period of life where you may have a lot of debt. The permanent policy would pick up where your term policy leaves off. If you feel that you may not fit the category of 'young and healthy' it may be more cost effective for you to pick one or the other. Just remember, you will typically pay more for the permanent plan, which may mean applying for a smaller death benefit( i.e. $50,000) or less. If you feel you need more coverage, term insurance may be the way to go. It depends very much on your individual situation. Regardless, insurance is only good if you keep it. So make sure you take your current and future budget into account. |
